Colas Thermo-Tac Primer is used to enhance the adhesion of thermoplastic road markings and road marking products to a variety of substrates such as but not limited to concrete, metal, composite, or Bitumen. The use of Colas Thermo-Tac Primer with thermoplastic markings is strongly recommended on any substrate that may prove difficult for thermoplastic to adhere to, especially when there is little surface texture.

All substrates must be dry, firm, solid and free of dust, fat, and oil. On concrete substrates all accumulations of fine particles(Laitance) on the surface must be removed prior to application. Any movement of the substrate should also be rectified prior to spraying primer. It is recommended that the surface is heated before application as this will reduce the drying time.

Substrate surface temperature may range from 0°C to 40°C. Do not apply when surface temperature is above 40°C and/or rapidly rising. Substrate temperature must be at least 3°C higher than the actual dew point. The can should be well shaken before spraying to the substrate. Apply at a rate of between 200 ml/m² to 400 ml/m² depending on density and porosity of the substrate. In any case, continue applying primer until saturation occurs to obtain a thin continuous resin film. On extremely porous substrates a second prime coat may be required. Do not apply the thermoplastic to the primer until the primer is dried as this can cause the primer to evaporate through the thermoplastic and leave bubbles within the finished product.

Colas Thermo-Tac Primer is available in a 600ml aerosol can
